The Jewish Heritage Centre of Western Canada is pleased to announce the release of its tenth collection of essays in the series “Jewish Life and Times”. The volume presents articles on a wide array of themes with a focus on Jewish Life in Western Canada.

It has been fifteen years since the last collection was published; volume X brings together writings from  scholars and writers on various themes, including military history, labour history, social history, religious history, and Jewish communities of Western Canada. All are based on presentations to audiences of the JHC .

The 23 essays focus on the Jewish history of Western Canada and are organized by eight themes: Jews in World War I; the 1919 General Strike, (politician and labour leader) A.A. Heaps; Rabbi Zalman Schachter; the Garment Trade in Winnipeg; Leisure Activities; Social Issues; and Beyond the City. 

Copies are available in our offices at $15 each. Shipping and handling to Canadian addresses is an additional $5. Payment may be made by cheque or e-transfer (to [email protected]).
