David Frum has written two New York Times bestsellers: The Right Man: The Surprise Presidency of George W. Bush (2003), and with Richard Perle, An End to Evil: How To Win the War on Terror (2004). His newest book is Comeback: Conservatism That Can Win Again (2007). William F. Buckley described Frum's first book Dead Right (1994) as "the most refreshing idealogical experience in a generation;" the New York Times called it "the smartest book written from the inside about the American conservative movement."
Frum writes regular columns for Time, CNN.com, The Week, and National Post. In 1996, The Wall Street Journal acclaimed him "one of the leading political commentators of his generation." The Daily Telegraph's 2007 and 2009 surveys named him one of America's 50 most influential conservatives.
In 2001-2002, Frum served as a special assistant to President George W. Bush. In 2007-2008, he served as senior foreign policy adviser to the Rudy Giuliani presidential campaign. Frum is a member of the board of directors of the Republican Jewish Coalition.
David Frum was born in Toronto in 1960. He received an MA in history from Yale in 1982, was appointed a visiting lecturer in history at Yale in 1986, and in 1987, graduated from Harvard Law School. He is also know to Canadians as the son of acclaimed CBC radio and television journalist Barbara Frum.
