The JHC 2003 Activity Book

This book was put together as an innovative project of the JHC, to assemble Archival photos and make them available to the general public.   

It is a full-featured 2003 daily-planner, which includes Jewish and Secular holiday dates, candle lighting and havdala times.

To make it really appealing, we added a prize component to the book.  There were 53 chances to WIN over $3300 worth of valuable prizes.  Every Thursday during 2003, one name was drawn from those who have purchased one of our Activity Books, and that person won the prize of the week.  In addition, the book includes two pages of valuable coupons. The value of the coupons more than payed for the book itself.   

Only 2000 books were printed.  The original cost was only $25. 

100% of the proceeds of sales went towards the Jewish Heritage Centre and other participating local non-profit organizations.

Our Activity Book this highlighted the people and faces and places that were a part of our local Jewish School scene in Winnipeg.  There are 101 full page archival photographs with over 2500 people represented.  See how many people you can recognize. You may find your friends, your family, and maybe even yourself.  There is a full photo index at the back of the book as well as a history of the Jewish Schools in Winnipeg.

Jordan Stern, Rachel Wolfe and Adam Meyers, students at Shore Elementary school, won the prizes to name the book: "The Activity Book 2003" and to design the cover. 

All prizes and coupons were donated by local Winnipeg businesses and individuals. We thank our many sponsors who sponsored the photos in the Activity Book and have fully covered the costs of producing the book.

The Activity Book is still an excellent gift for anyone you know. Beautifully bound, its archival school photos still makes it something all your family and friends will appreciate. Now that the prizes, coupons and daily-planner components have expired, we are still offering our remaining copies of the book to those interested in the historic photos for $15 or a donation of your choice.
